The middle part of the Eifel is also often called 'Vulkaneifel'. A reference to the many extinct volcanoes, sometimes with large craters and beautiful crater lakes. The landscape is forested, interspersed with towns, villages, pastures and cropland.

The central location makes car trips to the Moselle, the three countries point and Luxembourg within reach. But also Cologne, Koblenz and Trier are only about 1 hour away by car for shopping for instance.

All these cities are well served by public transport from Gerolstein.

Dogs are accepted almost everywhere in the eifel and that is why its an excellent area for taking your dog with you on vacation.
